In order to increase the farmers’ financial sustainability and linkage under the IFAD/VCDP in Ebonyi State, the IFAD/VCDP Rural Finance Officer in collaboration with Ebonyi state SPMU organized a-two-day Capacity Training to VCDP, RURALIFE and RELMS field Staff on Farmer Financial Literacy anchored by GIZ consultancy firm. The training was targeted for twenty four (24) VCDP, RURALIFE and REMS Field Staff in each of the 8 operating LGAs. Dr Okezie Kelechukwu a GIZ consultant and the Executive Director of Neighbourhood Environment Watch (N.EW) Foundation facilitated the training. Additional technical support was drawn from the Insurance and Micro-finance banks such as Ozizza Microfinance bank, and Nigerian agricultural Insurance Cooperation. At the end, action plan for the step down of the training to various benefiting farmers (producers, processors, marketers, seed entrepreneurs, rice and cassava recipes etc) at Local Government Level was agreed upon. A total of 480 farmers are expected to come for the step down training for the 6 days (20 Farmers for 2 days) in each of the LGA. It was planned in such a way to observe COVID-19 Rules.
